Haringey Council’s proposal to provide high-quality supported housing for adults with mental health needs, who are ready to step down from intensive/high-cost residential placements into more independent living.

The Brief

The Council wanted to meet the Mayor of London’s zero carbon building requirements and build a small development with significant renewable energy provisions. The building will be highly insulated, incorporating green roofs, efficient heating and solar panels to keep running costs low.

The Design

The proposal will provide 14 apartments and one office for support staff in a part one- and three-storey building with accessible parking spaces and cycle / mobility scooter storage facilities. Tisserin were appointed to design the cross laminated timber frame, which reduced the embodied carbon by 137 tonnes, compared with a typical concrete structure
