Southwark Council’s design for a new community space and cafe and 4-9 new council homes above on the site of the Old Peckham Library.
The Brief
Working with the local community and a Peckham based charity to develop designs that make the most of the space to provide much needed new housing stock for local residents and to complement and improve the existing surrounding Oliver Goldsmith estate. The site sits opposite the award winning Peckham Library, and is highly constrained due to overlooking, daylight and security issues.
The Process
Initial approval for the redevelopment of the site was granted in 2020. Whilst community open events to discuss the proposals were held in 2021, the project is currently on hold
